When I was in college, I followed the Tumblr account (yes, I am aware this possible just dated myself with some of you) of a writer who wrote the most intriguing short stories. At some point in my time following along, he mentioned he was going to be traveling and had a stack of postcards he was hoping to send out. Should we like to receive one from him, all we needed to do was to send him three words that he would use a prompt for a short story, write it on the postcard and send it our way. I still have the postcard tucked away safely, somewhere, in the studio.
I often wonder what become of this writer but sadly do not remember his name, nor his Tumblr account and if memory serves correct, he did not sign the postcard. Or if he did, I cannot decipher the name. Maybe one day I will serendipitously stumble across his writings again.
But this decades old postcard recently popped to mind and is the inspiration behind this month's journaling or sketching prompt:
The link below will open a list of words ready for you to print and cut apart (if you don't have access to a printer, simply write them out on scrap pieces of paper). Place the pieces in a jar, cup, box, old hat or anything you have laying around that resembles a container, shake them around and should you find yourself with a creative block, draw out 3. Let these three words be the catalyst for your next creative endeavor (be it sketching or writing) in your journal:

You can toss the words you’ve used and replace the with new ones or add them back in. This is your journaling journey after all, so there are no rules!
